About This Piece
There’s a moment just before the Sonoran Desert gives itself over to night, when the sun’s last light turns everything to fire. Golden Hour Patrol captures exactly that moment: a bobcat on its evening rounds, crossing open ground as the day burns out behind it.
Rendered in an impasto oil style rooted in the American Realist tradition, the piece gives the bobcat a textural honesty photography can’t match. Every brushstroke in the tawny, spotted fur carries the warmth of that late light. The cat moves forward with calm confidence, amber eyes meeting yours directly, unbothered by your presence and completely in command of its territory.
Behind it, the Santa Catalina Mountains recede into blue-purple haze, their rugged ridgelines catching the last rays of a desert sunset. The sky burns in layered golds and lavenders. Saguaro cacti stand sentinel in the mid-ground, while blooming ocotillo and desert wildflowers add splashes of red and gold, a Sonoran spring in full color. The warm red-brown of the decomposed granite underfoot grounds it all in the unmistakable palette of the Tucson Basin.
This isn’t a generic wildlife painting. It’s a specific place at a specific hour, the Sonoran Desert at its most alive, seen through the eyes of one of its most elusive residents.
Print & Production
Golden Hour Patrol is printed on metal. The aluminum surface intensifies the warm sunset palette and gives the bobcat’s fur a depth that stops people mid-stride. The amber eyes, the spotted coat, and the glowing ridgeline all hold sharp detail up close.
Each piece is printed directly onto lightweight aluminum with a brilliant, scratch-resistant finish and arrives with a French cleat hanging system, ready to hang. Every print ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and is made to order by Centric Photo in Tucson, Arizona.
