Digital Fine Art Prints on Metal and Acrylic

The Artist

Theresa Poalucci creates limited-edition fine art prints on metal and acrylic from her own photographs, drawings, and ink paintings. After 44 years in the newspaper business, she retired to SaddleBrooke and built a second career in fine art, working in acrylic flow painting, alcohol inks, and digitally composed pieces. Since 2024 her work has earned more than 80 juried awards and honorable mentions in international competitions.

She grew up surrounded by her mother’s paintings and earned a psychology degree from the University of Washington. Four decades in color reproduction and graphic design gave her a working knowledge of how printers handle color, and she brought all of it to her art.

Her Process

Every piece starts with something Theresa made by hand, whether a photograph taken in the field, a drawing, or an alcohol ink painting. She brings those elements into the computer and builds the composition from them, refining and painting digitally.

Her time goes to the animal, the face, the personality of the subject. The rest of the scene is built around that focal point. She unifies the image with artistic filters, then sets saturation and vibrance based on how printers reproduce color.

The finished files are printed on metal or acrylic. Metal gives a sleek, modern look with rich color depth. Acrylic gives a vivid, glossy surface where the image seems to float. Both hold up to long-term display, including outdoors and in strong light. Theresa tested this herself by leaving a metal print in the hottest corner of her backyard for a full year to see if it could take an Arizona summer.

Each piece is limited to an edition of 25 professional prints, and a letter of authenticity comes with every purchase.

Recognition

Her work is judged alongside entries from artists in dozens of countries, on composition, technique, and creative merit regardless of medium. She shows at the Southern Arizona Arts Guild Gallery at Joesler Village, Absolutely Art Gallery in Catalina, and Desert Artisans Gallery in Tucson. She also teaches four to five alcohol ink classes a month in the Tucson area, making her one of its most active instructors.
