There are moments in the Sonoran Desert when everything sharpens. Storm clouds build over the mountains, the light turns golden and fierce, and the whole desert, rocks, saguaros, wildflowers, seems to glow from within. Sonoran Storm Light captures one of those rare, electric afternoons.
A towering saguaro anchors the foreground, its ribs catching the last warm light before the storm arrives. Yellow brittlebush and purple lupine scatter bursts of color across the desert floor against rust-colored boulders. In the middle distance, the flats stretch wide and open, dotted with saguaros standing like sentinels across the valley. Rising behind it all, the snow-capped Catalinas glow white against a sky churning with storm clouds, lit from beneath by the setting sun. The Sonoran Desert, warm and wild, beautiful and threatening, all at once.
It’s a landscape that rewards those who pay attention.
